The Natchez City Cemetery has become somewhat of a tourist attraction since the onset of the popular annual event, Angels on the Bluff. The ladies who oversee the care-taking of the cemetery have created a wonderful audio CD which coordinates with a map of the cemetery, which can be played in cd players in any vehicle while driving through the grounds. The CD’s are available for purchase at the Director’s Office at the cemetery or the Natchez Visitor Center, but can only be rented at the Visitor Center, located at 640 S. Canal St. The tour actually begins on Main St. at Memorial Park, where the cemetery originated, and gives an entertaining history as you proceed to the cemetery. The cost to rent the CD is $15.00 and you simply return the rental to a drop box at the cemetery Director’s Office once you’ve completed the tour. To purchase a CD, the cost is $25.00 and should you decide you want to keep a rented CD, you may simply not return it and the balance will be charged to your credit card. Any rented CD’s not returned to the drop box on the day it is rented, will be charged to the card to which the rental fee was charged.

Cool, that’s interesting that the cemetery has become such a tourist attraction. There is nothing as peaceful as an old cemetery.
